Biggest, Highest, Mostest
Wow, Alaska exceeded any expectations I could possibly have had. What an amazingly beautiful, rugged, massive landscape. And it really is Biggest, Highest, Mostest. The place just cries out for superlatives sporting record holding salmon, Mount McKinley, land mass over twice the size of Texas. Amazing.
Jess and I traveled with her parents on a cruise of the inside passage with stops along the way. For the trip, I made Paula a French Girl Knits lace shawl - Diamanta (project details here) and Veronik Avery’s Zippered Vest (from “Knitting Classic Style”) for Barry (and here).

And while on the ship I started and finished a sweater to commemorate the trip (modeled here by my lovely and long-suffering friend, K.T. of LookieWhatIMade fame)(details here), based heavily on Rosedale by Amy Swenson in Knitty’s Fall 2003 issue:

Wish I could have joined you. Megan was in Sitka this summer working at the Raptor Center. She’s now happily married and started in grad school.
I’ve been wandering the blogiverse lately visiting my sock camp pals and stopping in to say Hi! I miss you all and am crossing my fingers that I can make camp and/or Sock Summit next year.
It’s great that you get to see KT and even get her to model your knitting for you. Fabulous sweater by the way. Live is good here in Iowa. Hugs and Happy Knitting, Alice
